News from CREN

  • 24th October: CREN is now busy organising this year’s OUR EARTH WEEK! We already have loads of inspiring messages from lots of organisations and individuals (including Chris Packham and Lewis Pugh!) as well as features and podcast extracts coming in, and watery soundscapes and great music. Our Earth Week begins on Monday 10th November.
  • 12th August 2025: We are very pleased that CREN will be attending the WILD SUMMIT in Bristol on Thursday 11th September. It’s all about celebrating nature, and finding ways to restore it. We’re looking forward particularly to the session about the Importance of Blue Spaces, given that Water is our theme for Our Earth Week this year. You can find out more about the summit here
  • 6th June – we are very pleased to announce that the first two stations from abroad to officially sign up to participate in Our Earth Week! Radio Kalinga from the DCR, and DYUP 102.7 fm from the Philippines. Welcome!
  • 24 MARCH – CREN is now officially a charity! Many many thanks to Kevin Tinsley for all his hard work, and to our Trustees for all their support. The work starts here!
  • 22 Jan – World Radio Day will take place on 13 February 2025! Join us in sounding nature’s voice all over the world. You can learn more about the UNESCO’s involvement in World Radio Day via our latest blog post.
  • 13 Jan 2025 – so a new year begins! This year we are going to concentrate on making this website a useful hub for people to connect up with each other, and as the central port of call for Our Earth Week. If you are a producer/journalist/artist/radio station/volunteer working in the intersection of community radio, sound and climate communication and you would like your info and contact details listed on this website, please email details to crenuk1@gmail.com
  • 29th Dec 2024 If you would like to join the network, please email crenuk1@gmail.com stating the reasons why you would like to join.
  • 28 Nov: If you are looking at this as a result of being at the Communicate Conference welcome! We are going to be adding a page where people who want to be part of this network can post their bios and contact links, so please send an email to crenuk1@gmail.com if you would like to be featured in this section. It will be somewhere that producers, artists and broadcasters can find each other.
  • 2 Nov: Our Earth Week. If you’re taking part in OEW, please keep an eye on the OEW News section (link on the homepage). We will be posting lots of updates there, which means you’ll be able to keep an eye on what’s happening easily.
  • 24 Oct: NETWORK FOR ECO SHOWS? Do you produce an environmental show on your station – of any kind? If so, we’d like to hear from you. We are going to set up a CREN Audio Library, and this one, unlike the Our Earth Week Library, won’t be just for one week of the year; it will be for 52! Please get in touch to let us know if you would like access to this library.
  • 19th Oct: Stations and producers can now get access to the Our Earth Week Audio Library. If you would like access please email crenuk1@gmail.com stating your name, station and the fact that you want to participate in the week.
  • 15th Oct: For the moment our attention is on Our Earth Week, so we will be working on improving the CREN pages and adding content once that’s finished. Please do get in touch via the contact form if you would like to be part of CREN or if there is something you would like to see on this website.
  • 5th Oct: CREN NETWORK PAGE we will shortly be adding a page where you will be able to find producers, stations and sound artists etc who are part of CREN.

  • 23 Sept: COMMUNITY MEDIA ASSOCIATION FESTIVAL: had a great day on Saturday, so much food for thought! And we have new stations wanting to join OEW! We welcome Hospital Radio Bedside and Devonstream Radio, and other stations also said they would be getting in touch.
  • 18th Sept: some of us from CREN will be at the Community Media Association Festival in Poole this coming Saturday 21st September. We look forward to seeing you there if you’re going!
