Our Earth Week 2025

We were so busy producing Our Earth Week last year and slightly understaffed, which meant we didn’t keep up with the CREN website as much as we would have liked to! However suffice to say that OEW 2025 was a huge success.

We had new stations taking part, and dozens of national organisations getting involved too, with so much brilliant content and great collaboration with The Climate App and the Wildling app too. Our theme this year was water, so the Climate App created our very own OEW Water Challenge, and Wildling produced lots of water-themed content for their app during the OEW week. We expect to have even closer cooperation with them this year.

Once again the amazing volunteers from so many stations shared content they had produced for all the other stations to use which went straight into the OEW Audio Collection. This meant that our stations had a huge and rich resource to draw on when providing content for their listeners.

We talked rivers, seas, lakes, and even puddles! We discussed pollution and degredation, but also where we loved to swim and dive. We walked about queering the Wye, marrying the Avon and giving our rivers legal status. We swapped stories about our favourite watery place and what would we do if we were in charge of the country, to deal with the problem of pollution, and we were treated to reports hot off the press from the COP talks direct from our correspondents there.

We were featured in the national and local media and we now have stations approaching us to take part, so word is definitely getting out there! Our mission with OEW is to Inspire, Connect and Act and that is certainly what we did. The week featured hundreds of conversations, lots of signposting to organisations and groups that listeners could get involved with, and inspiring stories from people who are taking action in so many different ways themselves already.

And now we are taking stock, and getting ready for OEW 2026!
