Celebrate World Radio Day 2025!

World Radio Day 2025 will be taking place on 13 February! Here is what UNESO has to say about it on its website:

“In an era marked by the dizzying speed of technological innovation and the rapid obsolescence of one shiny new platform after another, Radio is beginning its second century of service as one of the most dependable and widely utilized forms of media in the world…

While the Paris Agreement takes on capital importance, radio contributes to the achievement of its international objectives by supporting populations in the face of climate change through the dissemination of fact-based information, listeners’ voices, dedicated radio shows …

To all radio professionals and volunteers, everywhere in the world, UNESCO salutes your daily work and your commitment to the future of our planet, our future.”

UNESCO has put together resources for radio stations around the world to celebrate WRD. Their website has got a great deal of information on how to be a more responsible environmental advocate on the airwaves, including giving your listeners a voice, being careful when relaying information, and connecting with our networks.

UNESCO has also set up a world map of community radio stations celebrating World Radio Day. You can add your station’s name to the list, by registering here! Through this registration, you can chose to connect with other community radio stations, and link up with people close to your home, or on the other side of the globe.

Once you have registered your station, you will receive an email with lots of resources including a nature sounds library, links to trusted organisations for information on various topics, and in many languages, and 13 ideas on the kind of content you could create, in case you need support with the facts related to the climate and environmental crises. They also provide several audio pieces that can be used as jingles or stings (you can listen to one of them via the image above!).

If you are doing something special during World Radio Day to sound nature’s voice, make sure to let us know via the contact form, and to tag CREN on your social media posts!
